AJSU alone contested 52 seats and fielded its candidates in only 52 seats and this caused losses to both parties. They could not repeat the 2014 election results and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government led by Hemant Soren was formed in the state and the BJP had to play the role of opposition.
