A Clash Between MVA And Mahayuti Parties In Maharashtra, A New Seat-sharing Formula Emerged

Only one and a half to two months are left in the Maharashtra Assembly. In such a situation preparations for seat distribution have started. According to sources, an agreement has been reached between Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray regarding the seat sharing formula and what is the position of Congress on that formula? This is not yet clear. However, Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders are refusing to discuss this formula with the media.

According to sources, a total of 3 formulas have been decided in Mahavikas Aghadi. The first formula is that Congress will contest on 96 seats, Thackeray’s Shiv Sena on 96 seats and Sharad Pawar’s NCP on 96 seats. Another formula is that Congress should contest 96 to 100 seats, Thackeray should contest 96 to 100 seats and Pawar should contest 90 to 96 seats.

Under the third formula, Congress and Thackeray should contest on 100 seats each and Pawar should contest on 88 seats. In this formula, it is said that seats should be given to allies of Congress and Thackeray Mahavikas Aghadi. But whoever wins in the Assembly will have the same seat formula as in the Lok Sabha. MP Sanjay Raut has claimed that the three parties of Mahavikas Aghadi will field candidates on 288 seats.

At the same time, a meeting of Mahayutti parties BJP and Shiv Sena’s Shinde faction was held on Thursday. The meeting has claimed that the BJP is planning to field candidates on 170 seats and the Shiv Sena Shinde group is planning to field candidates on 100 seats, while the Ajit Pawar group has talked about fielding candidates on 80 seats.

Sanjay Raut said this

On Mahavikas Aghadi seat distribution, Sanjay Raut said that all three parties of Mahavikas Aghadi will try their best for 288 seats. Sanjay Raut said that like the Lok Sabha, the Assembly also has a formula for seat allocation.

Nationalist Sharad Pawar group state president Jayant Patil said that we will not talk to Mahavikas Aghadi until the assembly meeting is discussed. It is not appropriate for any third party to speak on this issue.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat said that Sanjay Raut never meets people and never goes to the ground. They can win 290 out of 288 seats. They have no faith. Congress seats will increase once.

No face for Chief Minister this time?

Meanwhile, there will be no face from Mahavikas Aghadi for the post of Chief Minister in this year’s elections. It is being said that this will be discussed after the result. In this year’s elections, there is little chance that the Mahayuti will reveal the face of the chief ministership.

Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said that face and seat allocation cannot be discussed in public. This will have to be discussed behind closed doors. MP Sanjay Raut said that after the study of the three, we will sit together and then decide on how many seats should be contested and whoever wins will get that seat. Our formula is same as Lok Sabha.

On which formula was the election contested in 2019?

In the 2019 assembly, there was a formula of 164/124 between Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and BJP. BJP contested on 164 seats while Shiv Sena contested on 124 seats. 12 out of 164 BJP seats were given to alliance partners. The Congress and the NCP fought in an alliance on a formula of 125/125. The remaining 38 seats were given to major allies.

Meanwhile. By holding a meeting on this formula, the Mahavikas Aghadi has moved towards building a front for the Legislative Assembly like the Lok Sabha. Officials complained that late nominations of candidates in several Lok Sabha seats had hurt the grand alliance. So there are possibilities that the formula of the grand alliance will come out in the assembly soon.
