Delhi High Court on Bansuri Swaraj: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a response from BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti’s plea. AAP leader Somnath Bharti filed an election petition in the High Court against BJP’s Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi.

A bench of Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Bansuri Swaraj on Somnath Bharti’s election petition. The AAP leader filed the petition challenging Bansuri Swaraj’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Also, the High Court has directed the BJP MP to file a reply within 30 days.

Somnath Bharti lost to Bansuri Swaraj

Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti in his petition filed in the court has accused Bansuri Swaraj of corruption during the elections. And based on that, the election of Bansuri Swaraj from the New Delhi parliamentary constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has been challenged. Somnath Bharti was the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party from New Delhi seat in the general elections held this year.

In the general elections held this year, Somnath Bharti had to face defeat from BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj in the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat. The AAP leader trailed in the polls with 9.25 percent vote share and finished second. At the same time, the BJP leader secured a total of 4,53,185 votes with a vote share of 53.48 per cent. Somnath Bharti got 3,74,815 votes.

The AAP leader also accused the BJP of this

The Aam Aadmi Party leader in his petition filed in the court also alleged that the BJP had fielded Bahujan Samajwadi Party candidate Rajkumar Anand to help Bansuri Swaraj. He argued that Anand resigned from AAP before the nomination, then contested on a BSP ticket and joined the BJP after the results.

Rajkumar Anand was a minister in the AAP government in Delhi before the 2024 general elections. He resigned from Arvind Kejriwal’s party on April 10. After this he joined the BSP and tried his luck in the Lok Sabha elections on the party’s ticket. However, he lost the election and finished third with only 5629 votes.

Anand became an MLA from Patel Nagar on an AAP ticket in 2020 and was the SC-ST minister in the Delhi government. She joined BJP last month on July 10. At the same time, the Delhi High Court has sought a response from Bansuri Swaraj on Somnath Bharti’s election petition.
