After Mobile Devices, India Will Start Manufacturing Electric Vehicles, Maruti Has Made This Plan

On one hand, India is making waves across the world in the mobile i.e. electronics sector and is exporting discs from India. Now, in the same way, India is going to make waves in the electric vehicle sector. The largest automobile company in the country, Maruti Suzuki, has made plans to enter the electric vehicle sector and even export to Japan and Europe. So, apart from the increase in employment in India, the country’s economy will also benefit a lot. Let us also tell you what kind of plan Maruti Suzuki has made.

Maruti’s super plan

Maruti Suzuki plans to export electric vehicles (EV) from India to markets in Europe and Japan. Giving information, the company’s MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said that the carmaker will have a high-spec EV with a range of 500 km and will be powered by a 60 kilowatt-hour battery. Speaking at the 64th annual session of industry body SIAM, Takeuchi said that we will have many such products. All our products, services, solutions and communications will address the same theme – ‘Enhancing customer confidence.’

He said that the country also needs it because only the manufacturing sector can create large-scale jobs for the youth and make India a developed nation. The company director further said that we will propose a variety of solutions for our EV customers to address their concerns while purchasing an EV. We will use the power of our network to increase sales and build trust among customers.

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch cars with these fuels

The CEO said that he wants to use all kinds of technology in his cars to tackle pollution in the domestic market. Apart from electric and hybrid vehicles, the company is also looking into developing models around biofuels and hydrogen. Takeuchi said that we will use all technologies to tackle carbon emissions and oil consumption. He said that along with biofuels, many of us are not aware that India has a wealth of natural resources.

India has huge human resources, agricultural resources and animal resources and all of them generate some amount of bio-waste. He said that these can be converted into bio-fuels and have a very low carbon footprint and many times no carbon is produced from them.

He said that although there are many countries in the world that are using the power of biofuels, I believe that India can soon become the world’s number one in biofuels and the rest of the world can start learning from India. The company director said that considering India’s size and unique context, we do not need to copy solutions from the rest of the world.

Multiple export growth plan

He said MSI plans to increase its exports by 2030. He said the automaker’s overseas shipments will see a “multi-fold increase” in the coming years. He said there is no reason why India should not target a large share of global trade. As Maruti Suzuki, I can tell you that we are not talking about growth in percentage but in terms of multiple growth. So, today our exports from India are three times larger. Not only this, in about six years our exports will be three times larger than today.

The company has started exporting its products to Japan. Last month, it exported francs to Japan. The first consignment of over 1,600 vehicles left for Japan from Pipavav port in Gujarat. This is the first sports utility vehicle (SUV) of MSI to be launched in Japan.

MSI exports increased by 1,85,774 units between FY21 and FY24. While it supported localization, it also focused on reducing dependence on imports for several critical components. Takeuchi said this is important because a large country like India needs self-sufficiency across the supply chain and dependence on imports is almost eliminated.
