The price of tomatoes has reached Rs 100 per kg at Mother Dairy’s Safal retail outlet in the country’s capital Delhi. Tomato 100 rupees in Delhi

Tomato prices touched Rs 100 per kg in the national capital on Saturday as rains in several parts of the country affected food supplies. Tomatoes are available at a price of Rs 100 per kg at Mother Dairy’s retail outlet ‘Safal’ in Delhi. According to data from the Department of Consumer Affairs, the retail price of tomato in Delhi on Saturday was Rs 93 per kg. According to government data, the all-India average price of tomato on July 20 was Rs 73.76 per kg.

Why is it increasing?

A senior official of the department said the sharp rise in prices last week was due to supply disruptions caused by extreme heat followed by excessive rainfall. The official said prices of tomatoes, potatoes and onions are very high in Delhi and some other cities. Extreme heat followed by excessive rainfall disrupted supply, leading to a spike in retail prices.

Potato and onion prices.

On Saturday, onion was sold at Rs 46.90 per kg and potato at Rs 41.90 per kg at Mother Dairy outlet in West Delhi. According to government data, onion is available at the rate of Rs 50 per kg and potato at Rs 40 per kg in Delhi. The average price of onion across India is Rs 44.16 per kg and the average price of potato is Rs 37.22 per kg.

The price of green vegetables also increased

Prices of other green vegetables have also increased. At Mother Dairy on Saturday, zucchini at Rs 59 per kg, bitter gourd at Rs 49 per kg, green beans at Rs 89 per kg, baba at Rs 49 per kg, tinda at Rs 119 per kg, green pepper at Rs 119 per kg, brinjal (small) at Rs 49. Per kg, brinjal (large) was available at a price of Rs 59 per kg, Parwal at Rs 49 per kg, bottle gourd at Rs 39 per kg and Arvi at Rs 69 per kg.
