This time Samajwadi Party is preparing to enter the election field with full strength in Maharashtra. Akhilesh Yadav called a meeting in Lucknow regarding the election. After the meeting, the Samajwadi Party has appointed four leaders in charge of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, MLAs Indrajit Saroj, Tufani Saroj and Lucky Yadav have been made in charge. Akhilesh has also kept the social equation in mind while deciding the charge. He has given the responsibility of preparation for elections in Maharashtra to two Dalits, one backward and one Brahmin.

Samajwadi Party Maharashtra state president Abu Asim Azmi was also invited in this meeting. There was a long discussion about the election in the meeting. After this it was decided that the Samajwadi Party will contest the election in alliance with Maha Vikas Aghadi. There are 22 assembly seats in Mumbai where North Indian voters dominate.

Akhilesh wants to contest the elections by forming a coalition

There has been no discussion with Samajwadi Party’s Maha Vikas Aghadi regarding seat sharing yet. The Samajwadi Party wants to complete its homework before the talks. Akhilesh Yadav will also go to Mumbai soon. Before that, the state in-charge of the party has been asked to visit Maharashtra. During the Samajwadi Party meeting in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said that we want to contest the elections in an alliance.

SP had contested on 7 seats in the last election

Samajwadi Party is in India coalition. Party president Akhilesh said that it would be good if there is an alliance, otherwise he will contest the elections alone. He said that we want an honorable partnership in the coalition. Samajwadi Party currently has two MLAs in Maharashtra. In the last election, the party contested on seven seats.

SP eyes on Muslim votes

Abu Azmi is the MLA from Shivaji Nagar and Raees Sheikh is from Bhiwandi East. The Samajwadi Party is eyeing Muslim-dominated assembly seats. Akhilesh Yadav is now working on a strategy to gain a foothold outside UP after the party’s stellar performance in the Lok Sabha elections. Many MPs of the party visited Mumbai in the month of July.
