A farmer climbed a tower to build a road in Pichor development block of Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district. The peasants who had climbed the tower since morning did not come down on any assurance. The farmer demanded that he would not come down till the road construction started. The entire administrative staff reached the spot on the demand of the farmer. The farmer said he would not accept any assurances before the construction of the road began. For the past several months, they have received only reassurances. Officials present at the site called the machines and started the work of road construction.

When a farmer in Umriklan village of Pichor development block in Shivpuri district lost hope of justice, he climbed a tower on Wednesday. The farmer who had climbed the tower since morning had not come down on any sure footing. By late evening, the entire administrative staff had reached the spot and called the machines and prepared to widen the road.

Farmer Jagat Singh Lodhi and his wife Deepti Lodhi, residents of Umriklan village, had been requesting the Collector to build the road for the past two months. He appeared in a public hearing at the collector’s office and testified that the village rebels were cultivating the land around his farm. Due to which he has to pass through their farm to get to his fields, but now the goons have refused to let the farmer go from his farm. Due to which sowing in their field is not possible. The farmer wanted to build a road. But with no hearing, he climbed the tower to seek justice.

Even the assurance of the officials could not be realized

The farmer presented his problem to the officials several times in the collector’s office. He said he could not even sow the field. After repeated pleas and no justice, the farmer spilled his whole seed twice at the collector gate. Both times he was assured that a road would be built to reach his farm, but he found no road to reach his farm. Finally today he climbed the village tower. His relatives blocked the road in the afternoon. Late in the evening, the tehsildar and ranger police officers reached Umriklan and assured him that if he came down, he would be given passage. Jagatsinh Lodhi remained adamant that he would descend only when his way was clear. The officials present at the spot continued the work of making the road to the farm with the help of machines.

In this matter, Geetesh Sharma TI said that the farmer does not come down. Officials have also reached the spot. Machines have been ordered and a road is being built to his farm.
