Amazing Situation In Ghazipur! No Relief From Floods, Even Shortage Of Food Grains… ‘Relief Material’ Rotted Before Distribution


Several districts of Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, including Sadar, Zamania, Syedpur and Mohammadabad taluks, are likely to be affected by floods. The district administration is claiming to have completed preparations keeping in mind the possible floods in such a situation. Preparations have also been made to deliver relief materials to those affected by floods. In view of this, food packets have also been prepared. This includes lee, gram, rice, flour, potatoes, pulses, salt, oil, candle, agaric, salt, turmeric, chili, coriander, roasted gram, jaggery, biscuits, bath soap and a gallon of pure drinking water.

A packet of all these items has been prepared. To provide this, potatoes have also been purchased by the administration, but the purchased potatoes have started rotting or sprouting, which cannot be used for any purpose in future, as the flood situation has not yet occurred. Regarding the possible floods, the Mohammadabad Tehsil Administration has also made full preparations to fight the floods and provide relief to the victims. In this, the administration has appointed 10 flood shelters, three flood centres, 78 flood posts, 94 boats, 3 divers and 68 disaster friends for the affected people.

Relief materials for 250 families

To distribute relief materials to 250 flood-affected families, warehouses in the tehsil have stockpiled food grains, food items and potatoes, but the Ganga has risen almost five times in the district and so the series of events has continued after this, causing the flood situation to continue. In such cases, the relief materials prepared by the administration include potatoes as raw material. If it is not kept in a cool place, it starts rotting or sprouting. Similar is the condition of potatoes included in the relief material, which have started sprouting after being kept in the tehsil warehouse. Due to the sprouting and rotting of the potato, its stench is also spreading, due to which the surrounding people are also affected.

Potatoes are kept in rotten stocks

In this regard, Tehsildar Ram Ji said that the Tehsil administration has stocked 250 packets of food items as well as potatoes and other items to deal with the flood situation. With the help of this, the flood situation can be distributed to the affected people as soon as it occurs. When asked for information on potatoes, he admitted that yes, some potatoes were rotting or sprouting. Due to which the stench is also spreading. In such a situation, employees are being deployed to move such potatoes to the side, so that other potatoes are not damaged.

Ganga has crossed the warning mark almost four times in Gazipur district and currently Ganga was rising very fast even two-three days ago, but now its water level is receding. According to data from Merajuddin, site in-charge of the Central Water Commission, the Ganga has receded at a rate of 2 centimeters per hour to 61,550 meters by 8:00 am on Monday. Ganga is still flowing above the warning point, while Ganga is flowing below the danger mark.

At present, while the villagers around the Ganga have felt a lot of relief as the river Ganga has receded, the Ganges has started to erode in many villages of the district, cutting off the cultivable lands of the farmers. has been absorbed into the Ganges. Seeing this, the farmers are upset and are pleading with God to somehow save their arable land from being absorbed into the Ganges.
