Another Student Suicide Stirs Panic At IIT Guwahati, 4th Incident In 8 Months; Students Performed

Another student has committed suicide under suspicious circumstances at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. Originally from UP, this student was studying in his third year in Computer Science. Her body was found in the Brahmaputra hostel room on Monday, the police reached the spot on receiving the information, took the body of the student into their custody and started investigating the case. The police have also informed the student’s family members and asked them to reach Guwahati. According to the police, it is not yet clear why and under what circumstances the student took such a drastic step.

According to the police, this is the fourth incident of suicide at IIT Guwahati. Earlier on August 9, a student’s body was found hanging in his room. After the incident, the students gathered outside the administrative building of the institute and staged a huge demonstration. Later, when the matter was investigated, it was found that the student was suffering from health problems and could not concentrate in her studies. On Monday, one more student committed suicide and the matter did not cool down.

Accused of neglecting the institution

Even after this incident, the students created an uproar. The students alleged that this student was also mentally disturbed. He also submitted his medical report to the institute, but the management of the institute ignored it. After this, the dean of the institute spoke to the students and assured that the institute is committed to address concerns related to student welfare and mental health. Efforts will be made at every level for this.

According to the organization’s spokesperson, everyone associated with the organization, including the management, is deeply saddened by the incident. The students will be discussed to solve this problem and efforts will be made to prevent such incidents from happening again. On the other hand, the police said that the family members of the student have been informed and have been called to Guwahati. Postmortem of the body will be done after their arrival. Currently, the police are conducting an investigation in the student’s room in the hostel. The matter is being seriously investigated.
