Bareilly: Businessman Killed During Robbery, Inspector Presses Case, Then Ruckus, SSP Organizes Probe After Giving Ultimatum

Five days ago, a bullion businessman was shot dead during a robbery in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The matter was immediately reported to the police, but the police suppressed the matter. Now, when the businessman died and the ruckus started, the SSP came to know about the incident. Considering the inspector’s role in this matter as suspicious, he himself has started an investigation into the matter. The incident took place in Katra of Amla police station area of the district. On the other hand, bullion traders of the district have warned of an agitation demanding action against the inspector and arrest of looters.

According to police, Srikant Patil, a bullion businessman living near Ramlila Gate in Katra, was sleeping at his house five days ago. Meanwhile, robbers came to their neighborhood and started breaking the locks to enter the house. Hearing a bang, he came out, grabbed a rascal and started shouting. In such a situation, the robber shot him to free himself from his clutches and fled from the spot. Locals rushed the businessman, who was badly injured in the incident, to the hospital, where he died during treatment on Tuesday.

Amala Inspector accused of negligence

As soon as the other traders got this news, they all got angry and reached the SSP office. Bullion traders said that a complaint was lodged with the Amla Inspector immediately after the incident. At that time he took the matter lightly, even when a complaint was registered the next day, he did not take any action. The captain himself expressed surprise at this complaint. In fact even the inspector himself did not inform him about such a big incident. After hearing the complaints of traders, he has started an investigation into the matter. He has assigned the responsibility of investigation to SP Rural Anjani Verma.

Protested by keeping the market closed

On the other hand, as no action was taken against the inspector and the robbers were not arrested, the traders protested by keeping the market closed. The police have now registered a case of murder against Gyanat in this case. On the other hand, the family members of deceased bullion businessman Shrikant Patil said that he was originally from Maharashtra and had been living and doing business here for a long time. The family members said that after the postmortem, they will take the body to Maharashtra and cremate it there. According to family members, Srikanth Patil’s family is in panic over his death.

Formed a team to catch the criminals

Now he has a son and a daughter in his family besides his wife, according to Vishal Malhotra, an official of the Rashtra Jagran Udyog Vyar Mandal, adding that the law and order situation in the district is deteriorating. Police are not taking crime incidents seriously. According to SSP Anurag Arya, separate teams have been formed under SP City to arrest miscreants.
