Bathing With Panchamrita, Anointing With Saffron Water; Special Decoration Of Mahakala On The Fourth Monday Of Savan


A wind of faith in Baba Mahakal’s court

On the fourth Monday of Savan, the wind of faith is blowing in Shiva temples across the country. Baba Mahakal woke up half an hour early at Sri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The gates of the temple were opened at 2:30 pm. The temple premises resounded with the praises of Baba Mahakal.

Actually, Baba Mahakal’s Bhasma Aarti starts at 3 am, but due to the special significance of today being the fourth Monday of the month of Shravan, Baba Mahakal woke up half an hour earlier to give darshan to the devotees. Thousands of devotees participated in Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal.

Pandit Ashish Guru, the priest of the Mahakaleshwar temple, said that the silver door of the temple was opened after taking the permission of Lord Virbhadra. After this the Lord was worshipped. Meanwhile, Mahakala was bathed with Panchamrut. Saffron water was offered to him and Baba Mahakal was also decorated with sandalwood and bhang.

Today is the fourth ride of Shravan month

Today, the fourth Monday, Baba Mahakal’s ride will start in the city. During this time Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar will appear to the devotees today in the form of Shri Uma-Mahesh seated on Nandi on a bullock cart. When Lord Shri Chandramoleshwar will be seated in the palanquin as before. Meanwhile, Shri Manmahesh on elephant, Uma Mahesh on Nandi, Shri Shiva Tandava statue sitting on Garuda Rath will go on pilgrimage to the city. People from the Ghasi tribal community will dance during the ride of Baba Mahakal. Besides, the bhajan group will also perform in front of the palanquin.

Donated a silver crown

A piece of silver crown was offered to Shri Mahakaleshwar Bhagwan on behalf of Anant Pradeep Joshi from Sion, Mumbai. Its total weight is 2046.500 grams. He was welcomed on behalf of Moolchand Junwal, Assistant Administrator, Sri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee.
