He became an independent MLA in 2023 and then contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate. A Muslim leader from Barmer region, Amin Khan defeated the Congress leaders in the assembly elections and protested against the return of former Congress district president Fateh Khan to the party, but the party ignored him. Because of this, Amin Khan rebelled against the Congress and supported Ravindra Singh Bhati.
