The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has taken major action against a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer for the first time. Senior IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, who was facing prosecution by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case related to amassing disproportionate assets, has now been removed from the post of Principal Secretary, Department of Energy. After being removed from the post, now the sword of arrest is hanging over him.
Along with being Principal Secretary, Department of Power, Sanjeev Hans was also holding the additional charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited. Even after billions of rupees worth of assets were found in his name across the country during investigation agency proceedings, he held many important positions. In such a situation, the attitude of the state government was constantly being questioned.
The ED conducted the raids last month
However, now the Bihar government has taken a major step and removed them from both the important posts. The ED had raided the premises of Sanjeev Hans last month in July. The ED has collected a lot of evidence against him related to corruption and disproportionate wealth. While the Patna police also found the allegations of rape against her to be true.

Similarly, in January last year, a case of rape was registered against former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Gulab Yadav and IAS Sanjeev Hans at Rupaspur police station in Patna. In such a situation, there is a risk of his arrest in both the cases. The next 24 hours are considered very important for him regarding his arrest.
Attached without any post in General Administration Department
This is the same famous 1997 batch IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, during whose tenure over 1 million smart meters were rapidly installed in Bihar. Because of this, Bihar has become the first state in the country to install such a large number of smart meters. However, nothing was updated in the name of infrastructure.
Despite such massive corruption, Sanjeev Hans has been removed from the post and ordered to contribute to the General Administration Department. In such a situation, questions are being raised on this order of the government. In place of Sanjeev Hans, the charge of Principal Secretary, Energy Department has now been handed over to ACS Sandeep Poundrick of Industries Department.
IAS Sandeep Pondrik is a 1993 batch IAS officer. Additional charge of electricity department has also been taken away from Sanjeev Hans. Now he is kept in General Administration Department without any role.
