Gangster Act applied to former MLA Pawan Pandey.
The police have booked the famous former MLA Pawan Pandey of Uttar Pradesh under the Gangster Act. The police have taken strict action against 12 people including Pawan Pandey and registered a case under the Gangster Act against all of them. Former MLA Pawan Pandey is already in jail. Several serious cases of murder, fraud and land grabbing have been registered against him. The police have made the former MLA the prime accused in the Gangster Act case. After this action of the police, the trouble of the former MLA has increased.
Former MLA Pawan Pandey is the uncle of Ritesh Pandey, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections on a BJP ticket from Ambedkar Nagar. Pawan Pandey is currently in jail in land grabbing and murder cases. Cases have been registered against Pawan Pandey in Mumbai including Jaunpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Lucknow, Ayodhya and Prayagraj. Talking about Pawan Pandey’s criminal record, the first case was registered against him in 1984. In 1987, the Gangster Act was applied to the former MLA for the first time.
Gangster Act has been implemented 7 times
A case has been registered against the former MLA under various serious sections including murder, Arms Act, Excise Act, Goondas Act and 3/2 National Security Act. Gangster act has been imposed on Pawan Pandey seven times. If we talk about the total cases, so far 95 cases have been registered against the former MLA. There is hardly any section of the IPC in which a case has not been registered against a former MLA. He is avoiding going to jail due to political influence despite all serious sections, but currently he is in jail in a case. However, the former MLA got some reprieve during the Lok Sabha elections and came out of jail.
Former MLA is also named in Babri case
Pawan Pandey’s family is active in politics. Pawan Pandey’s brother Rakesh Pandey is a Samajwadi Party MLA. His nephew Ritesh Pandey has been an MP from BSP. This time Ritesh Pandey contested from Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket, but he had to face defeat at the hands of SP candidate Lalji Verma.
Pawan Pandey himself was once a Shiv Sena MLA. In the 2022 assembly elections, Pawan Pandey contested his son Prateek Pandey on BSP ticket, but the son did not get success. Pawan Pandey is also the main accused in Ayodhya’s much talked about Babri case.
