The BJP had approached the Kolkata High Court demanding a demonstration in support of the doctors. A lawyer appearing for the West Bengal government in the court said that the demonstration should be allowed for only one day. He claimed that holding the protest for five days would cause inconvenience to the general public.

At the same time, a lawyer appearing for the BJP in the High Court sought permission to protest for six days from Wednesday. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the bench of Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj of the High Court allowed the BJP to hold the agitation for five days.
