A hospital built at a cost of crores in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district has turned into ruins. The hospital, built 15 years ago, has turned into a ruin even before it became functional for the public. The violent elements have uprooted everything including the hospital doors, door frames, windows, grills, electrical wiring. Then this condition of the hospital has become a safe haven for thieves.
A 30-bed government hospital built 15 years ago on five acres of land in Saraiya panchayat of Paru block has closed due to negligence of the state government and the health department. The Bihar government has no information about this, while local people say that the hospital building, built 15 years ago on government land at a cost of Rs 5 crore, is currently in a dilapidated condition.
The hospital was in ruins even before it opened.
This hospital has not been properly started by the government and has not been given serious attention by the health department. For this reason the hospital proved useless to the people of the area. Crores of rupees were spent in the name of building the hospital, but neither the government could start it properly nor was it taken care of. Now when the hospital issue came to light, there was a commotion in the government department.
