Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Miami RedHawks score today. Live updates, highlights from Week 3

OXFORD, Ohio – The nation’s oldest non-league rivalry commences at noon today as the Cincinnati Bearcats and Miami RedHawks meet for the 128th time with the winner taking or keeping possession of the Victory Bell.

Saturday is likely the last Victory Bell game at a campus site

This is scheduled to be the last on-campus meeting between the two teams separated by a little over 39 miles. Miami pulled out of their scheduled return to Nippert Stadium in 2025, but there is a neutral site game in 2026 at the home of the Cincinnati Bengals, Paycor Stadium. Both sides have recently expressed hope that the series could continue at a neutral site, but it may not take place every year.

Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback is new to the rivalry

Saturday will be the first road game for redshirt sophomore Brendan Sorsby as quarterback of the Cincinnati Bearcats. He did fare well in some road contests in the Big Ten last year with Indiana. Miami quarterback Brett Gabbert is a sixth-year veteran of many games, including last year’s overtime thriller at Nippert when the RedHawks broke UC’s 16-game string of wins in the series in overtime.

Last Cincinnati Bearcats visit to Oxford had wild finish

In 2017 the Luke Fickell Bearcats trailed 17-6 with less than three minutes to go and scored 15 unanswered points to retain the bell. A Malik Clements interception of Miami quarterback Gus Ragland for a touchdown made for the improbable comeback. UC was on the other end of a dramatic comeback last week when Pitt came back from a 27-6 deficit late in the third quarter to beat the Bearcats in the final seconds, 28-27.

Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Miami RedHawks predictions

I have stuck to my guns with what I wrote before the season for this week. UC has the No. 8 passer in the NCAA in yards in Brendan Sorsby and is No. 9 overall in passing offense. They’re No. 31 in rushing at 213 yards per game and Corey Kiner is No. 28, coming off a 149-yard game last week. A year ago, they outgained Miami 528-358 and lost, one of four games where they outgained an opponent and lost. Considering the gut punch against Pitt and losing the bell a year ago, I’m going Bearcats 27-21 against the defending Mid-American champions.
