The Mahabharata has again broken out in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). One member is to be elected for the Standing Committee of MCD. One member’s seat fell vacant after former BJP councilor Kamaljit Sehrawat became MP. A meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was convened on Thursday, but the meeting was marred by an uproar over the taking away of mobile phones and the proceedings of the House were adjourned till October 5.
On the other hand, on the instructions of the LG, the MCD Commissioner decided to hold the election today, which the Aam Aadmi Party is calling illegal and unconstitutional. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia criticized this and said that democracy is being killed in Delhi. Later, the election was postponed after the Aam Aadmi Party protested.
Let us tell you that the standing committee has a total of 18 members, who together elect the chairman. As of now, 17 members have been elected, out of which 9 are from BJP and 8 from AAP. This 18th member will decide which party will be the Chairman of the Standing Committee.

Controversy over the election of one member
Whichever party is the Chairman of the Standing Committee has the authority to take all financial decisions on the treasury of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and above Rs 5 crore.
Even before the election, 10 councilors of Aam Aadmi Party switched to BJP, there was an uproar over taking mobile phones to the house in the meeting held on Thursday, after which Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi adjourned the House till October. 5. was adjourned.
