Del Valle High School junior QB Jake Fette verbally commits to Arizona State


Del Valle’s much heralded junior quarterback Jake Fette has verbally committed to Arizona State of the Big 12 Conference.

Fette announced on his X account on Sunday night.

The 6-foot-2 signal caller is the second Del Valle player to commit to a Division I school this year. Senior running back Manny Fuller committed to Utah in July. Utah also competes in the Big 12 Conference.

Fette has helped guide the Conquistadores to a 3-0 start this season, including wins vs. city powers Franklin and Canutillo. He has passed for 612 yards and rushed for 148 yards this season. Del Valle didn’t play its season opener vs. Montwood due to weather issues.

Last season, Fette passed for 2,465 yards and rushed for 346 yards.

“Jake is a great person, and he’s a great college prospect,” Del Valle coach Rudy Contreras said. “This is a decision hetook time in making and he’s got our full support here at Del Valle. He has so much promise as a player and he puts in the time to get better. He is a leader for us.”

Fette also had offers from Kansas, SMU, Houston, Texas Tech, New Mexico State, Texas State, California and UTEP.
