Delhi Coaching Center Accident: CBI Initiates Probe, Probe Agency Registers FIR Against Owner


Last month in July, three students preparing for IAS died when a coaching center was flooded due to rains in Delhi. After the Delhi High Court’s order, the CBI has started investigating the case. The CBI reached the spot for the first time on Wednesday after the transfer of the investigation into the death of the students at Old Rajendra Nagar Coaching Center in the capital. A case was also registered against the owner of the coaching center.

After the Delhi High Court ordered the transfer of the probe into the students’ deaths from the Delhi Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the investigating agency registered a case and a CBI team reached the coaching center today on Wednesday. The CBI team reached the IAS coaching center in Rau. Where he searched for hours in the building and basement of the coaching center and collected important evidence.

Deceased Nevin’s father also reached the spot

After hearing the news of the CBI team reaching the spot, the deceased student Navin’s father and his lawyer Abhijit Anand also reached the spot. Meanwhile he said that now CBI is probing the case, so hopefully we will definitely get justice.

In fact, last month on July 27 at 6.30 pm, the basement of the coaching center was flooded due to waterlogging after heavy rains. The coaching center is accused of violating the rules and running a library in the basement, when only stores and parking are allowed in the basement.

Aggrieved, the High Court handed over the probe to the CBI

After the incident, Delhi Police registered a case and arrested SUV driver Manoj Kathuria along with 6 people associated with the coaching center. Kathuria alleged that his car passing near the basement increased the water pressure at the coaching center and caused the gate to break, leading to the accident.

However, on August 1, Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court granted bail to accused Manoj Kathuria. The next day, on August 2, the Delhi High Court questioned the Delhi Police’s investigation and transferred the case to the CBI.

The incident took place on 27th July

After heavy rains in the capital Delhi on July 27, the basement of the building of this coaching center located in the old Rajendra Nagar area was flooded. Due to which the students studying there were stuck. But three students who were preparing for civil services died. In which Shreya Yadav (25) from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni (25) from Telangana and Nevin Delvin from Kerala were killed.

After taking over the investigation, the CBI has again registered a case against Abhishek Gupta, the owner of the coaching center. A case has been registered against him under charges of culpable homicide, causing death by negligence, voluntarily causing hurt, reckless conduct and other charges.
