Divisive System, Attack On Constitution… Priyanka Gandhi Speaks On Government’s Decision On Kanwar Yatra In UP

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi.

The issue of installing name plates in front of shops on Kanwar Yatra route in UP has gained momentum. Now Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has attacked this issue. He termed the UP government’s order as divisive and an attack on the constitution and democracy. Demanding immediate withdrawal of the order, he said strict action should be taken against such people.

While posting on X, Priyanka Gandhi said that our Constitution guarantees every citizen of the country that he will not be discriminated against on the basis of caste, religion, language or any other basis. The divisive order to put up name boards of their owners on vehicles, kiosks and shops in UP is an attack on our constitution, our democracy and our common heritage. Dividing society on the basis of caste and religion is an offense against the Constitution. This order should be withdrawn immediately and strict action should be taken against the authorities who issued it.

Asaduddin Owaisi also besieged the government

There is a political uproar in UP over the order issued on Kanwar Marg. Apart from the Congress, many other opposition forces have opposed it. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also termed the government’s decision as an attack on democracy. He said that many employees working in hotels and dhabas have lost their jobs due to the government’s decision. The constitution cannot be violated in the country even for a minute, let alone 15 days. The order issued by the government is completely wrong. There are festivals of various religions throughout the year, so will the government close liquor shops during the month of Ramadan?

At the same time, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani has criticized the UP government’s decisions. He said that the unfair, biased and discriminatory decision should be withdrawn immediately. He also claimed that this decision of the government will give strength to those forces who want to economically boycott Muslims.

What is the whole matter?

A few days ago, an order was issued to all hotels, dhabas and eateries along the 240-km long Kanwar Yatra route in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district to protest in the name of people working at the shops. Following this, the UP government on Friday issued a similar order for the entire state. After this decision of the government, it has now become mandatory for shopkeepers to put up name plates during Kanwar Yatra across UP.
