Election has been announced for one vacancy in the Standing Committee of Delhi Municipal Corporation. According to the information, this election will be held in the meeting of the corporation house to be held on 26th September. The Mayor has allowed the election to be held on the vacant post.

In fact, elections will be held on the vacant post after BJP councilor and standing committee member Kamaljit Sehrawat was elected as MP. The last date of nomination is 19 September. In this any councilor can make nomination along with proposer and seconder. Nominations are likely from both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

How will the standing committee be formed?

Let us tell you that 17 members of the Standing Committee have been elected after the Ward Committees of Delhi Municipal Corporation. In which 7 members have been elected from BJP’s zone and 5 from AAP’s zone. But the standing committee will not be formed until the 18 members are elected.

Who has how many members?

According to information, three BJP members were elected from the House last year, but they resigned as councilors when Kamaljit Sehrawat, an elected member of the standing committee, became an MP in June this year. It means that now only 2 members of BJP have been elected from the house. While AAP has three members. It means clearly that out of 17 members, BJP has 9 members and AAP has eight members.
