‘Engineer’ Akhilesh Pioneered Political Formula, Experimented 5 In 7 Years; Full Report

Thomas Alva Edison did not give up the experiment until the light bulb was invented… After the defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was responding to a question about the experiment with this statement. Akhilesh, who came to politics from an engineering background, has prepared 5 political formulas since 2017. These experiments of Akhilesh were much discussed in the UP elections. However, only one of Akhilesh’s formulas has been a hit so far.

In this special story, let’s read all 5 experiments of Akhilesh in detail…

1. He formed an alliance with the Congress when he became the SP chief.

In 2017, Akhilesh Yadav replaced Mulayam Singh as the President of the Samajwadi Party. At that time there was a SP government in UP under the leadership of Akhilesh. After becoming the SP president, Akhilesh first tried to form an alliance with the Congress.

Akhilesh made this alliance to stop the BJP, which was rapidly emerging in UP politics at that time, but Akhilesh did not succeed in it. The party could not even cross the 50 mark under his leadership.

Akhilesh’s experiment was highly criticized. A faction of the SP has also raised questions about giving more seats to the Congress. After the 2017 elections, Akhilesh parted ways with the Congress.

2. Attended sister’s party but here too there was a game

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh tried a new alliance. After 23 years, Akhilesh initiated an alliance with sister party BSP. As part of the experiment, an alliance was also formed between SP and BSP in UP. Akhilesh gave one more seat to Mayawati’s party.

Ajit Singh’s party RLD was also included in this alliance. However, this experiment was not successful in the 2019 elections. The alliance benefited the BSP, but did not increase the party’s seats.

Akhilesh’s two cousins Dharmendra Yadav Badaun and Akshay Yadav lost the election from Firozabad. Wife Dimple Yadav also could not win the election from Kannauj. After the results, Mayawati held a press conference and announced breaking the alliance with the SP.

3. Took support of small parties, increased seats but did not get power

In the 2022 assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav took the support of small parties instead of big parties. SP formed an alliance with Subhasap, RLD, Apna Dal (Kamarawadi) and Mahan Dal of Keshav Dev Maurya.

Akhilesh gave a strong challenge to the BJP with the help of this alliance, but his party could not form the government. In the 2022 elections, the Samajwadi Party won 111 seats, while its allies won around 15 seats.

Not only this, after the election, these allies gradually left Akhilesh’s camp. Now none of the old comrades of these small parties are with Akhilesh.

4. Formulated PDA, took Congress along

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav formulated the PDA (Backward, Dalit and Minority) formula against the NDA. Not only this, Akhilesh also took the Rashtriya Party Congress with him before the elections.

Both these experiments of Akhilesh were successful. For the first time since its inception, the Samajwadi Party has won 37 Lok Sabha seats in UP. In UP, the SP alliance defeated the BJP by winning 43 of the 80 seats.

The PDA strategy was most effective in Akhilesh’s success.

5. Now Agada has also become a minority in PDA

It meant a minority in the PDA till 2024, but after the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav added Agada to the PDA. The party has made powerful Brahmin leader Mata Prasad Pandey the Leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly. Earlier this post was held by backward leaders in SP.

Brahmins make up about 9 percent of UP and have a lot of political influence in Purvanchal Pradesh. In particular, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Basti and Siddharth Nagar areas of Mayup have 39 assembly seats, where SP got only 6 seats in the last election.

Akhilesh hopes that Brahmin votes will come to SP through Mata Prasad in these areas.

Akhilesh studied engineering

After graduating from military school, Akhilesh went to Mysore to pursue engineering. He completed his Bachelor’s degree from Civil Department here. Akhilesh then went to the University of Sydney, Australia, from where he obtained a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering.
