Villagers killed in tiger attack in Pilibhit (file photo)
On Monday, a villager was killed in a tiger attack in Madhotanda of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district while going to protect his fields. According to forest department officials, the villager’s blood-soaked body was later recovered. Meanwhile, the forest department team reached the spot and conducted an investigation.
Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) Divisional Forest Officer Manish Singh told media that he has inspected the site and issued necessary guidelines to the teams. According to Madhotanda Police Station, Kedari Lal, a resident of Baskheda village in the area, went to guard the fields on Sunday night. His blood-soaked body was found lying in the field on Monday morning.
The patrolling team prevented entry into the forest area
According to a statement issued by Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, Kedari Lal was attacked and killed by a tiger in Compartment 124B of Bhairon Beit located in Mala Range. On receiving the information, forest officials led by Indian Forest Service Officer Bharat Kumar DK and local forest personnel searched the spot with the help of Madhotanda police. The police sent the dead body for postmortem.
According to the statement, at around 10 am, a patrolling team of the forest department spotted Kedari Lal roaming near the forest border and sent him outside the forest. At the same time, Kedari Lal again entered the forest area, which was confirmed to the forest officials by Udham Singh, who was present at the spot.
Permission has been sought to capture the tiger
A forest department official said that a cage has been set up near the incident site. Also permission has been sought from higher level to capture tigers. Dr. Daksh Gangwar, a veterinarian, currently working in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, has been recalled from Lakhimpur Kheri. A monitoring team of the forest department is keeping a constant vigil near the incident site.
