Super Commando Dhruv, Nagaraj, Chacha Chowdhury, Doga, Pinky, Parmanu and many such names that used to run through our minds, yours and all of us during our childhood days. There is hardly any one of us who has not read comics in his childhood days. There is hardly anyone who is not beaten to read comics at home, but in today’s age of technology, people have forgotten about comics. But there is one IPS in Patna, who has a treasure trove of comics even today. Even today he reads comics in his free time.

He has a treasure trove of comics

Indeed, Superintendent of Police cum Assistant Director of Civil Defence, Pankaj Kumar Raj is an IPS who prefers to read comics in his free time instead of looking at mobile or computer. Not just one, two, a hundred, two hundred, but about 300 comedians still with him. Some comics are around 25 to 30 years old. Pankaj has kept all these neatly in the cupboard and Godrej.

Maybe inspired by comics

Pankaj says it is IPS and comics also contribute to this. He managed to become an IPS only because of comics. In fact, Pankaj says that he loved the character of Super Commando Dhruv right from the start. In the world of comics, he was a character who overcame all odds and succeeded solely on the strength of his determination. Pankaj says that during his school days when he used to read Super Commando Dhruv’s comics, he loved his ability to bring people out of adversity. Super Commando Dhruv appeared to be a determined man just like you and me. From that day I also decided to do something better in my life and today I am an IPS.

Read comics in free time

Sticking to rules and discipline, Pankaj says that even today he does not like to look at the computer or mobile in his free time. In his free time he reads comics. Today, comics of 25-30 years ago are not easily available in stalls. As he loves to read, he still orders paper back editions.

Improves concentration

Pankaj says, I believe reading comics helps in concentration. Linguistic accuracy increases, as well as consistency in one’s reading. He also says that many comics or books PDF editions are available on mobile today, but whenever you read the PDF edition on a computer or mobile, there are some hurdles. Sometimes a call will come and sometimes a notification or message will come. This reduces concentration, while reading comics does not.

Children should stay away from electronic gadgets

Pankaj says, I want any child who spends most of his time on mobile or laptop or computer to use these gadgets only when absolutely necessary. He himself says that I have two children and I strictly follow this rule for my children. My children look at mobile or computer only when absolutely necessary. In my free time, I tell him to read the comics himself. Whenever I get a chance, I sit and read comics with him.

Has been SP of many districts

Pankaj Kumar Raj, originally from Lakhisarai district, is a 2006 batch IPS. Pankaj Kumar Raj managed to become an IPS only after completing his graduation from Hindi medium.
