Haridwar: Schools Will Remain Closed For A Week From July 2 Due To Kanwar Yatra, The Administration Has Decided.

Kanwar Yatra has started from Monday. Devotees who are also called Kanwariyas have gone out to fill the Ganges water. In such a situation, Haridwar administration has taken a big decision considering the crowding of Kanwadis. According to which, schools from class 1 to 12 in the district have been ordered to be closed for a week from July 27 to August 2. A traffic scheme has been implemented in the entire district to facilitate the Kanwadis.

Giving information, Haridwar District Magistrate Dheeraj Singh Gabriel said that from July 27 to August 2, a holiday has been declared in all government and non-government schools including Anganwadi centers in the district from class 1 to 12. He said that a huge crowd of Shiva devotees is gathering in Haridwar to take Ganga water and the crowd is expected to increase in the coming days.

Schools will be closed from 27th July to 2nd August

The District Magistrate said that the decision to close the schools has been taken keeping in mind the crowding of students and the difficulty in commuting due to the implementation of the traffic plan. With the beginning of the Kanwar Yatra, a huge crowd of devotees is seen in Haridwar to take water from the river Ganga. In the Kanwar Yatra, the ‘Kanwar’ is a vessel filled with water from the Ganges River suspended on a decorative bamboo stick and slung over the shoulders.

This year, there was a lot of controversy even before the Kanwar Yatra began, starting with the Muzaffarnagar police in Uttar Pradesh issuing an order to make it mandatory to display their names in front of eateries along the route of the Kanwar Yatra. This decision was later implemented across the state by the UP government.

The Supreme Court imposed an interim stay

On Monday, the Supreme Court put an interim stay on the UP government’s order. The order was also passed by the Uttarakhand government, directing the eatery owners to disclose the names of the owners and the employees employed by them. The Kanwar Yatra began on Monday, the first day of the month of Shravan and will end on August 2.
