Hyundai Motor’s Campaign And MoU With Charge Zone To Expand EV Charging

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has signed an MoU with Charge Zone Scheme. HMIL’s EV roadmap in the country will be strengthened in line with the Indian government’s strategies for EV adoption. Under the agreement, Charge Zone will install 60kW DC fast chargers at 100 Hyundai dealerships across the country. Signed by Jay Van Ryu, Function Head, Corporate Planning, HMIL and Karthikeya Hariyani, Founder & CEO, Charge Zone, at HMIL’s headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana.

The objective of this strategic partnership is to expand the public EV charging infrastructure in India. These public EV charging stations, which will be set up keeping in mind the location of dealerships in cities and around highways, will provide convenience to EV users who are on long journeys in their EV.

Regarding the next phase of HMIL’s EV roadmap, J Van Ryu said that India is moving ahead on the path of adopting e-mobility. In such a situation, there is a need to expand the EV charging infrastructure. So that customers are not afraid in terms of range. Customers should be easily motivated to adopt EVs. By forming a strategic partnership with Charge Zone, we are committed to expanding the EV charging network. Under this agreement, 60kW DC fast chargers will be installed at 100 Hyundai dealerships.

He said this will benefit all Hyundai and non-Hyundai customers. These stations can be accessed through the My Hyundai app or Charge Zone. This strategic partnership will help promote electric mobility among customers and achieve India’s goal of carbon neutrality.

Karthikeya Hariyani, Founder and CEO, Charge Zone, said that over the last five years, Charge Zone has established a renewable energy-powered EV charging network for electric cars and buses in India. Our collaboration with Hyundai Motor India Limited will enhance the infrastructure for electric four-wheelers, ensuring that customers have a seamless charging experience with easy access and availability.

He said that currently there are 60 kW DC public charging stations at 19 HMIL dealerships. In partnership with Charge Zone, HMIL aims to install 100 additional charging stations at its dealerships to provide customers with a reliable and seamless charging experience with a round-the-clock support system.

As part of its EV roadmap, HMIL has invested heavily to set up a rapidly expanding EV charging network with 180kW and 60kW DC chargers across the country. In addition to its dealer network, HMIL also operates 15 additional EV charging stations across major cities and highways in nine states.

HMIL has also developed EV Charge, a dedicated Charging Management System (CMS) platform within the My Hyundai mobile app to optimise the charging experience for EV customers across all OEM brands. With the help of this CMS, EV customers will be able to locate charging points from various CPO chargers, book charging slots, monitor through the app and make digital payments. In addition to Hyundai’s own chargers, Charge Zone’s charger network and other third-party charging point operators will also be available under the EV Charge section of the My Hyundai app.
