Injury report: Defensive end Josh Burnham ruled out for Notre Dame football

SOUTH BEND — Defensive end Josh Burnham, a redshirt sophomore for Notre Dame football, has been ruled out for Saturday’s home game against Miami (Ohio).

Burnham suffered a sprained left ankle in the final minutes of the Sept. 7 home loss to Northern Illinois and was listed as questionable in Monday’s injury report. Burnham, who saw his defensive snap count double from the opener at Texas A&M (25) to Week 2 against the Huskies (53), also sat out last week’s romp at Purdue.

Notre Dame already lost Vyper end Jordan Botello (knee) for the season along with center Ashton Craig (knee) in last week’s win at Purdue.

Sophomore wideout Jordan Faison, who suffered a right ankle sprain in the first half at Texas A&M, is expected to return against Miami (Ohio) after missing the past 10 quarters of game action. Faison “should be full go” this week, Irish coach Marcus Freeman said Monday.

Faison, the Sun Bowl MVP and a lacrosse national champion, went through warmups and was in uniform at Purdue but did not play.

Jaden Greathouse has been the primary punt returner with Faison out, but freshman Aneyas Williams and Colgate grad transfer Max Hurleman shined in the second half at Purdue.
