BCCI is yet to announce the retention rules for IPL 2025. However, according to media reports, the rules have been finalized and may be announced at the Apex Council meeting. This time the board may allow the retention of 5 players, which will include 3 Indian and 2 foreign players.

If that happens, considering last year’s performances and the future, it is expected that Jack Fraser McGurk and Tristian Stubbs will be retained along with Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel. Meanwhile, David Warner has turned 37 and his performances have also declined. Apart from this, he is also struggling with injury problems.
