Several candidates have died during the physical examination for the recruitment of excise constables in Jharkhand. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state has claimed that 10 candidates have died during campaigning. The party alleged that the deaths were due to mismanagement by officials.
The physical examination under the Jharkhand Excise Constable competitive examination was conducted at seven centers in Ranchi, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Palamu, East Singhbhum and Sahebganj districts, police said in a statement.
Police said that unfortunately, some candidates died at some centers during the physical examination. A case has been registered in this regard and the reason behind the death is being ascertained. According to police, adequate arrangements including medical team, medicines, ambulance and drinking water were ensured at all the centres. BJP’s Jharkhand unit president Babulal Marandi claimed the death of 10 candidates and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and compensation and government jobs to the dependents of the deceased.
