Kanwar Yatra: ‘For Harmony’, UP Govt’s Response To Supreme Court On Name Plate Decision

Kanwar Yatra has started in the country, but in Uttar Pradesh there has been a controversy over the installation of name plates with the owner’s name on the shops on the Kanwar Marg. The Supreme Court had issued notices to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh on the name plate dispute and asked them to respond by Friday i.e. July 26. The government told the court that the notification to put up name plates on food stalls on Kanwar Marg was issued to ensure peace and avoid hurting the religious sentiments of Kanwariyas even by mistake.

The government said the order has been implemented so that even by mistake, Kanwariyas do not eat anything from any shop that hurts their religious sentiments, even minor misunderstandings about the food served to Kanwariyas can hurt their religious sentiments. Appealed to dismiss the application

The UP government opposed the petition filed against the name plate order and appealed to the court to dismiss the petitions. The government said that the allegations made in the petition are not true and the facts are also not acceptable. A decision taken after a meeting of officials

The UP government told the Supreme Court that making proper arrangements for food and drink during Kavad Yatra and displaying the names of shopkeepers does not violate the right to equality in the Constitution. The UP government said that the order for name plates was issued keeping in view the proper arrangements during the Kavad Yatra. He also said that this order was not taken suddenly but a meeting of high officials was held earlier and it was decided to implement it as per the prescribed law.

The Supreme Court stayed the order

While hearing the name plate order, the Supreme Court in its interim order stayed the name plate till the next hearing. The court also said that shopkeepers will not need to reveal their identity. You just have to tell the types of food. Kanwadis should get vegetarian food and maintain cleanliness. However, it is necessary to state whether the food is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. The next hearing of this case will be held today i.e. 26th July.
