The body of a PGT female doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Later it was revealed that the doctor was raped and killed. After which the accused citizen volunteer Sanjay Rai was arrested. But then there were allegations that the seminar hall was where the doctor’s body was found. Renovation work was started by demolishing the adjacent room. It was alleged that this was done to destroy evidence.
It was alleged that the renovation work was started on the instructions of Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Hospital. Allegations were made that the room was ransacked to destroy evidence. On August 12, the renovation work was halted after the action of the National Commission for Women.
But the BJP questioned the former principal and the state government and alleged that the renovation work was done to destroy evidence. This was a conspiracy. The matter reached the Kolkata High Court. The court questioned the government and ordered a CBI probe into the entire matter.
