Kolkata Rape Case: Will The Strike Of Doctors End? Meeting With The Government Again Today


Junior doctors are demonstrating.

Many steps have been taken by the Mamata Banerjee government on the demand of doctors in the Kolkata rape case. Top medical officials, including the Kolkata Police Commissioner, have been transferred. However, the junior doctors’ strike continues. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the agitating junior doctors emailed and demanded another meeting with the state government. The junior doctors want to discuss their fourth and fifth demands.

State Secretariat Nabanna has responded to the protestors’ emails. There will be a meeting with junior doctors at Nabanna meeting room on Wednesday at 6 pm. Chief Secretary Manoj Pant will be present in this meeting.

Will all the demands of the Nabanna protesters be accepted today? And will the strike of junior doctors end today? All eyes are on this.

Junior doctor on strike after rape and murder

After the midnight meeting on Tuesday, the junior doctors said that their strike would continue. Since then the fourth and fifth demands of those people have not been fulfilled. So he has announced to continue the strike. Junior doctors of all hospitals in the state are on strike against the rape and murder of a woman doctor. They have been sitting in front of the health building in Salt Lake since September 10.

According to agitating junior doctors, the culture of bullying in government hospitals should stop. Security should be ensured in hospitals. He said that information about the formation of the task force should be issued soon by the health department.

Agitator junior doctor Aniket Mahato said that our fourth and fifth demands i.e. the issue of Principal Secretary should be accepted. And the way the Hon’ble Supreme Court has accepted our demand for safety and security.

He said that our demand was that security should be ensured in the college premises so that the incident of lady doctor rape does not happen again. College-to-college democratic space should be expanded. We believe that these demands should be discussed with the government at the earliest.

A meeting of junior doctors will be held at 6 pm

An agitating junior doctor said, “All hospitals should provide security to doctors. The culture of intimidation must stop. That is what this movement is for.

Responding to the doctors’ emails, the Chief Secretary said that the Chief Minister has already constituted a task force to consider your demands regarding the security of various medical colleges and hospitals. You must know that currently many districts of South Bengal are facing flood situation.

He wrote that in this situation we request you to rejoin the work for the welfare of the people. I and the rest of the task force will meet with 30 of your representatives in the Nabanna conference room on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. You are requested to reach Nabanna within 6.15 minutes.
