Lenawee County football roundup from Week 1


Addison, Madison, Onsted, Sand Creek and Tecumseh pick up wins on Week 1 of the MHSAA high school football season.

Tecumseh 47, Jackson Northwest 7

TECUMSEH — Tyler Clement opened the season strong with four touchdown passes and ran for another in a blowout win.

Clement was 9-of-13 passing for 203 yards with touchdown passes and also led Tecumseh’s ground game with 75 yards and a score. Connor Bullinger hauled in five receptions for 125 yards and all four scores while Brayden Baur ran in for two touchdowns.

Cooper Barkway had two sacks.

Onsted 35, Napoleon 20

ONSTED — Onsted opened with a victory for the first time since 2019.

The Wildcats scored first and led 28-8 at halftime as Griffin Amthor had a 90-yard touchdown, Luke Manders hit Aidan Paquin for a 60-yard touchdown and Talan Hutchinson for a 50-yard score and Cole Ruttkofsky scooped up a 45-yard touchdown. Paquin added a 5-yard touchdown run in the second half.

Addison 20, Clintondale 12

CLINTON TWP. — Byron Creech rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns to lead Addison to the victory.

Josh Ray completed 4-of-5 passes for 57 yards, including a 35-yards touchdown to Mike Trumble.

Heith Burton had seven tackles and a sack and Gunnar Demeuse had seven tackles. Ray had one interception.

Sand Creek 50, Vandercook Lake 0

SAND CREEK — The Aggies piled up 372 yards while holding the Jayhawks to negative one yard of offense and started the season 1-0.

Ivan Wilkinson had 159 yards rushing on 14 carries. Wyatt Fox had 56 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Rory Eack caught a 25-yard touchdown from Cole Scharer and R.J. Gervacio had a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Aggies.

Fowler 20, Hudson 6

FOWLER — Brennan Marshall scored Hudson’s only touchdown of the night on a 9-yard touchdown run with 33 seconds left in the first quarter.

Fowler led 12-6 at halftime and scored with 6:55 left in the third quarter to knock off the Tigers.

Whiteford 35, Blissfield 6

BLISSFIELD — Blissfield fell behind 28-0 at halftime and couldn’t recover in time and lost to the Bobcats.

Kipp Fisher caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jon Cheney for Blissfield’s only score.

Brandon Jacobs had 45 yards rushing for the Royals, who were held to 118 yards of total offense.
