Lt Governor VK Saxena inspecting sewers in Delhi
After the coaching tragedy in Delhi, the government and the LG are facing each other in the office. On the one hand, the Delhi government is holding the Lieutenant Governor responsible for the poor state of the city, while LG VK Saxena himself has taken charge. On Sunday, Lt. Governor Barapula, Kushak and Sunehari left to inspect the canal. The condition of the drains he saw during the inspection was also shared on social media.
The Delhi LG said that today he visited and inspected Barapula, Kushak and Sunehari canals along with Nizamuddin’s historic Barapula bridge. The ground reality witnessed during this period is not only terrifying but also shameful. Immediate corrective measures are required to ensure smooth flow of rainwater.
All the three drains are under I&FCD and MCD.
He said that these three canals are under Irrigation and Flood Control Department and MCD. These drains carry rainwater to the Yamuna, but their silt and dirt have not been removed over the years. Choked drains are also visible in the picture shared by LG. Several images have been shared by LG.
