Madhya Pradesh’s Pranpur, Sabarwani And Ladpura Specials Become Country’s ‘Best Tourist Village’


Madhya Pradesh has once again hoisted its flag in the Union Tourism Ministry’s Best Rural Tourism Competition. On the occasion of International Tourism Day, Madhya Pradesh’s Pranpur, Sabarwani and Ladpura Khas have been declared the country’s best tourism villages. Pranpur has been selected in the craft category and Sabarwani and Ladpura Khas in the responsible tourism category. Entries were received from a total of 900 villages across the country, out of which 36 villages were selected for the Best Tourism Village.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Additional Managing Director Bidisha Mukherjee received the honor along with rural representatives at a function organized at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday. The Best Tourism Village competition is organized by the Union Ministry of Tourism with the objective of promoting community-based values ​​and lifestyle by preserving cultural and natural resources.

Important to promote tourism

Principal Secretary and Managing Director, Department of Tourism and Culture, Madhya Pradesh. Tourism Board Shiv Shekhar Shukla said, “We are proud that Pranpur, Sabarwani and Ladpura Khas villages of the state have been selected in the Best Tourism Village competition. This achievement is proof of our commitment to promote rural tourism. These villages have not only preserved the local culture and traditions, but also made efforts to economically empower the local communities through tourism. “We are determined to take this initiative forward, so that other rural areas of the state also get a rightful place on the tourism map.”

Villages will get world class recognition

Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director, said that being honored as the best tourist village would give world-class recognition to Pranpur, Sabarwani and Ladpur Khas. Domestic and foreign tourist arrivals will increase, thereby increasing local employment and developing the rural economy. Ancient arts, crafts and cultural traditions will be preserved in the villages, so that this heritage will be protected for future generations. In 2023, Madla in Panna district and Khokhara in Sidhi district were declared the best tourist villages.

About Pranpur

4 KM from Chanderi Taluka of Ashoknagar District. Darwaza Pranpur has been developed as the country’s first handicraft handloom tourism village. Handloom weaving is done in about 243 houses of weavers here, about 900 weavers weave Chanderi cloth on about 550 handlooms in the village. On 06 March 2024, M.P. The project was launched by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Civil Aviation and Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

About Sabrabani

Sabarwani village in Tamiya taluk of Chhindwara district reflects the rich Gond tribal culture.
