A mother’s story of seeking justice
It is said that in the house of God there is delay but not darkness. It may take time but justice always comes. One such case has come to light from Kanpur Dehat in UP. Seema Yadav married Manoj in Jalon, promising to be together for seven births. But, a few days later when Seema started getting close to Suresh Yadav, the owner of Fauji Dhaba, the two started conspiring to get Manoj out of the way. 80-year-old Suraj Dei and the mother of the deceased have been waiting for justice for a long time, now finally their wish has been fulfilled.
According to the victim’s mother, Suresh and Seema kidnapped their son Manoj, killed him and dumped his body in the Singur river near the dhaba. After this the elderly victim kept going to the police station and demanding justice, but at that time Suresh Yadav was the district president of Lohia Vahini in the Samajwadi Party. Suresh had a lot of influence. People were scared by the name of Suresh Yadav due to which even the police refrained from registering a case.
Times have changed… Circumstances have changed
Gradually time passed and the government changed in Uttar Pradesh. After 15 years of the incident, the victim stepped up her advocacy once again, after which a case of kidnapping was registered against Suresh Yadav and Seema Yadav. The police collected the information and filed a charge sheet in the court. The legal entanglements in the case continued for 6 years. After cross-examination and testimony, the case finally reached a verdict, after which the Kanpur Dehat District Court convicted the accused Suresh and Seema and sentenced them to 10 years imprisonment each with a fine of 50 thousand rupees each. It was decided to give 80 percent of the fine to the victim Suraj Dei. Suraj Dei also respected the court’s decision and thanked the court and the government.
For the first time in 18 years, the punishment was received
Giving information, public prosecutor Pradeep Pandey said that today, for the first time in the criminal history of 18 years, Suresh Yadav has been punished. Suresh Yadav was first booked in the year 2006 under other serious sections including murder and till now 19 cases have been registered against Suresh Yadav. District Badar action has also been taken against Suresh Yadav under the Gangster-Gunda Act. Pradeep Pandey said that the case was very complicated as the case was registered against the accused 15 years after the incident. But the victory was achieved after the cooperation of police officers and the testimony of witnesses, including the victim.
