Each year, the William V. Campbell Trophy is given to the college football student-athlete who is the best in the nation in terms of combined academic, football, and leadership achievements. This year, a record number of semi-finalists were selected, and Michigan State football defensive tackle Maverick Hansen made the list.

Hansen, one of Michigan State’s five team captains, is a sixth-year senior and four-year letter-winner from Farmington Hills, Michigan.
