Microsoft outage causes chaos around the world, including India

On the morning of July 19, Microsoft users, including banks, reported widespread outages around the world. The company said it is gradually fixing the issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services. Australian media reported that banking services were disrupted because their computer systems were not working properly. Some banks in New Zealand said they were also offline. Australia’s largest bank, Commonwealth Bank, said some customers were unable to transfer money because of the outage.

Visible impact on banking services

National Australia Bank (NAB) and Bendigo Bank were also caught up in the service disruption in Australia. Social media users said they were having difficulty reaching financial institutions such as NAB. Microsoft 365 posted on Social media users also reported long queues at Australian stores such as Woolworths due to payment system failures, as well as difficulties accessing financial institutions such as National Australia Bank.

These companies were victims of cuts

Microsoft’s global outage has also affected other sectors, from flights, media companies to stock markets. Major Indian airlines such as Akasa, IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet faced operational challenges. Also, US low-cost airlines such as Frontier Airlines, Allegiant and Suncountry also reported issues affecting their services. Millions of Windows users around the world are facing the Blue Screen of Death, which causes computers to shut down or restart suddenly. In some cases, computers restart again and again, rendering them unable to work.
