Man injured in mob thrashing.
In Bihar’s Katihar, three people were badly beaten up by a mob on the charge of stealing a bicycle. A man died after being beaten up by a violent mob. At the same time, two people are seriously injured. The police reached the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital for treatment. The police have arrested three people including the sarpanch of the village. The case is being investigated. The incident spread a sensation in the area.
The incident took place in Phulwariya Ward No. 4 of Koda Police Station area of the district. Three youths were caught by a mob here on the charge of stealing a bicycle. His hands were tied and beaten. The crowd kicked, punched and batted the trio. The police rushed to the news of the incident. The police reached the spot and rescued the three youths from the crowd. He was taken to hospital for treatment. In which a young man died. When the relatives of the deceased came to know about the incident, there was chaos in the house.
Arrested for bicycle theft
According to police, 45-year-old Panchalal Rishi, a resident of Ziktiya village in the district, had gone to Phulwari Das Tola along with his friends Bittu Munda and Vilas Rishi. The bicycle of Manoj Das living in the village was stolen. The villagers caught Panchalal and his companions on suspicion of bicycle theft. A crowd gathered there. All three were tied and beaten. According to reports, the three were badly beaten up by a mob of violent villagers. He kept asking people for help to escape but no one took pity on him. All three suffered serious injuries as they were beaten up by the mob.
One was killed by the mob
The police got the information. 112 police team and patrol team reached the spot. They sent all three to a local hospital. Here the doctors declared Panchalal dead. While, Bittu Munda and Vilas Rishi were referred to Purnia after first aid. On the other hand, as Panchalal did not reach home till late evening, his wife came looking for him. She said that through the villagers, she came to know that her husband, a leper, was admitted to a government hospital. On reaching the hospital, she learned that her husband Panchalal Rishi had passed away. As soon as she heard the news, she started crying loudly.
Based on the complaint of the deceased’s wife, the police have registered a case against four named people and some unknown persons. Police have arrested three accused. The police said that Sulekha Devi and Neeraj Das have been arrested on the basis of the complaint, along with Sarpanch Dinesh Das of the area. The search for the rest of the accused is on.
