MP: 400-year-old Wall Collapses In Rain, 7 Dead, Including 5 From A Family

Adverse effects of incessant rains are beginning to be seen in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia. On Wednesday, the 400-year-old wall at the lower part of the Rajgarh fort collapsed. In this accident, 7 people including 5 people from the same family died on the spot. On receiving the information, the police and disaster relief team reached the spot and started rescue operations. The incident took place at 3.30 am in Khalkapura area of ​​Datia. According to the police, two of the dead are relatives of that family.

According to information, all the nine people present in the house were buried under the debris as soon as the wall collapsed. Fortunately, bystanders removed the debris and pulled two people out. There was some delay in pulling the remaining 7 people out of the wreckage. Neighbors informed the police about this. After this Collector Sandeep Makin and SP Virendra Kumar Mishra reached the spot with full strength and started relief work with the help of Disaster Relief Team.

An uproar over carelessness in defense

According to the police, the bodies of 7 people were recovered during the operation which lasted for 7 hours. However, the villagers raised an uproar alleging negligence in the rescue operation. Those killed in the accident include Niranjan Vanshkar, his wife Mamta, daughter Radha, two sons Sooraj and Shivam, besides Niranjan’s sister Prabha and brother-in-law Kishan.

Among them, Kishan was originally a resident of Gwalior, but was staying at his in-laws’ house for the past 15 years. Similarly, Niranjan’s other brother-in-law Munna, his son Akash, who was seriously injured in the accident, has been admitted to the hospital. After the rescue operation, the collector informed the state government about the incident. After this, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
