MP Achieves New Records In Cleanliness Drive: CM Mohan Yadav


Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has created many records in the cleanliness campaign started in the country on the initiative of PM Modi. He said that on the one hand, Madhya Pradesh has got the status of the cleanest and cleanest state in the 2022 Swachh Survey. On the other hand, the city of Indore in the state has achieved the distinction of being the cleanest city in the country for the 7th time in a row.

Chief Minister said that Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan is being launched on PM Modi’s birthday i.e. 17th September. Which will continue till October 2 Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. This year the theme of the campaign has been Prakriti Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata. He said that this time too, sanitation related activities will be carried out on a large scale with public participation in many urban and rural areas.

Achievements of the State in the field of sanitation

The city of Indore has been awarded the cleanest city in the country for the 7th time in a row in the Cleanliness Survey Awards 2023. Indore has become the first city in the country to achieve Water Plus certification and 7 star rating. Recently, in the Clean Air Survey 2024 under the National Clean Air Programme, Jabalpur has been ranked second in the country for improving air quality.

Spot compositing is being done from the waste generator.

Spot compositing is being done from more than 850 solid waste generators in the state. Prioritizing disposal of faecal sludge in the state, 399 FSTPs are operational in 368 urban bodies and 55 STPs in 20 urban bodies. 401 urban bodies are combining with 368 central units in the state. For disposal of dry waste, 360 material recovery facility units have been constructed in 401 urban institutions.

Production of bio CNG from wet waste

The legacy waste from 108 urban institutions of the state is being treated. In the first phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission, 50 urban institutions have completely disposed of their legacy waste. These units bring waste from 16 cities and convert it into compost.

A 550 tonne per day capacity Govardhan unit is operational at Indore to produce bio-CNG from wet waste. Waste to electricity generation units are also running in Rewa and Jabalpur. These units are processing 950 tonnes of waste per day and generating 18 MW of electricity. It is proposed to generate electricity from 660 tonnes of waste in Indore and Ujjain. This unit will generate about 12.15 MW of electricity. All these works will enable the urban institutions of the state to become self-sufficient in waste management by the year 2027.

The cleanliness campaign has reached new heights

In the cleanliness survey conducted in the year 2022, Madhya Pradesh has got the status of the cleanest state in the country. In 2023, Madhya Pradesh was declared the second cleanest state in the country. Madhya Pradesh has received 7 national awards for cleanliness. 361 institutes in the state have got ODF Double Plus, 3 institutes ODF Plus and 7 institutes ODF certificate. 384 institutions in the state have declared themselves safe cities based on CPHEEO norms.

In the Swachh Survey-2024 category of open defecation free cities, 27 cities will be awarded Water Plus and all remaining cities will be awarded Double Plus, while a target has been set for all cities to achieve Garbage Free Star certification. Certified with at least 3 stars.

Started cleanliness school for awareness

A School of Hygiene has been started to create more awareness about hygiene issues in the state. For this till now 44 thousand 639 Safai friends, 2004 officials, 243 public representatives and representatives of 200 organizations have been trained in 388 training sessions. In which 44 thousand 701 friends and their families took advantage. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, more than 10 online training sessions have been conducted on key topics related to cleanliness. Recently 16 training sessions were organized at the RCVP Noronha Administration Academy. In these sessions, more than 600 officials and employees were given exposure visits along with training to 14 urban institutions and 311 institutions to bring about change at the grassroots level.
