NIA Files Charge Sheet Against Three Maoists Accused Of Conspiring To Attack Security Forces

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet against three more cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) militant outfit in connection with the deadly attack on Chhattisgarh security forces in 2021. 22 security personnel were martyred and many were injured in the attack.

The agency on Friday filed its supplementary chargesheet in the case (RC-02/2021/NIA/RPR) before the Jagdalpur NIA special court, charging the three accused with various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and UA(UA). . Charges were filed under P).

Total number of accused 49

The accused have been identified as Rakesh Bhogam alias Kunjam Umesh alias Badru, Madkam Unga alias Ungal, Sodi Mangi. With this, the total number of chargesheeted persons in the cases registered on June 5, 2021 has increased to 49. The original chargesheet named 23 accused in December 2022, followed by two supplementary chargesheets in 2023 naming 17 and 6 more persons.

Deadly attack ordered by top leaders

Armed cadres of the CPI (Maoist) launched a deadly attack using automatic weapons and barrel grenade launchers (BGLs) on instructions from top leaders of the banned outfit. They attacked joint teams of DRG, COBRA and CRPF who were conducting a search operation against Maoist cadres near Tekalgudiam village in Tarem. The attackers also looted weapons from the security forces during the attack, besides abducting a Cobra soldier, who was later released.

Conspiracy to wage war against the government

According to the NIA investigation, the three accused were active cadres of the CPI (Maoist) and actively participated in vicious attacks on security forces as part of a conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India. Prohibited arms and ammunition were recovered from him.
