Water from the Noor Dam filled the graveyard.

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, has been flooded due to the failure of the Noor Dam. Many areas including Khonagoria have been submerged by the water of the dam. The situation has become so bad that people cannot leave their homes. The graveyard in Khonagoria area has also suffered heavy damage. As the cemetery was flooded, bodies came out of the graves and started floating in the water. People somehow sneaked in and collected these dead bodies at one place. Policemen have also been deployed near the dam to monitor the flow of water.

Heavy rain in Jaipur late on Sunday night caused the wall of Noor Dam, located in Khonagoria Police Station area, to collapse. The area was flooded due to a breach in the dam wall. The collapse of the dam wall created chaos in the area around 9.30 am on Monday, as several areas were completely submerged in the dam water and people were trapped in their houses.

Graveyards flooded, corpses found in graves

The graveyard near the dam was also inundated by the dam water. Due to the rapid flow of water, there was no chance to recover even a little. Graves in the cemetery were also flooded, causing considerable damage to the graves. Meanwhile, the dead bodies started floating in the water after coming out of the graves. Seeing the bodies floating in the water, the locals pulled out all the five bodies and kept them in a safe place.

The dam is being repaired

Information about this was also given to Khonagoria police station. As soon as the information was received, the police station also reached the spot and started relief work in the graveyard. The police entered the water with the help of local people and pulled out the dead bodies with the help of a rope. At present, policemen have been deployed near the Noor Dam to monitor the flow of water. No casualties reported yet. Efforts have also been made by the administration to repair the dam.
