The reborn EA Sports “College Football 25” video game was released recently, and the gang at Fox Sports ran a simulation in order to see how the College Football Playoff might shake out.

Players can use “dynasty mode” to simulate the 2024 season. Fox Sports ran 50 simulations and got a variety of results. Notre Dame made the CFP at qualified 25 times, half of the trials. That is the sixth-most of the 20 teams that made the CFP at least 10 times. Oregon had the most at 45 appearances.

A total of 70 teams made the playoffs at least once.

The Irish won the championship one time.

Video game predictions mean nothing, they’re just for fun. There’s a mix of evaluation of real-life teams and randomness, and we shouldn’t take much stock in how the simulations play out.

Still, Notre Dame fans will be heartened to see that the Irish made the CFP half the time and took home at least one title.

Now if the Irish can make the CFP and win the title in real life, that would be nice.
