Travelling on the Delhi Metro is now easier than before. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, as a part of its digital initiatives, launched the Multi-Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) on September 13. With this new facility, passengers will not need to buy QR tickets every day but will get a ticket with a single QR code for continuous travel. This facility is more convenient and environment-friendly and will prove to be a cost-effective alternative to the smart cards currently in use. This will provide more benefits to those people who forget to carry their smart cards.

The digital revolution will come to the subway

DMRC has presented this step as a digital revolution, which aims to make the journey of passengers easy and convenient. QR tickets for various journeys are available on DMRC’s ‘Delhi Metro Sarathi’ (Momentum 2.0) app. It will be available for purchase from September 13.

This process will be similar to that of the smart card. Passengers can purchase a single QR code by paying a lump sum, which can be used until the deposit is exhausted. To purchase this ticket, one must first download the ‘DMRC Momentum 2.0’ app, where after registration, one can obtain the QR ticket. The initial amount is Rs 150, which can be used for travelling on the metro. No security deposit will be charged for this ticket.

These things must be taken into account

Passengers can use digital payment gateways like UPI, credit cards and debit cards to purchase QR tickets for multiple trips. An amount up to Rs 3,000 can be stored in the app wallet, but a minimum balance of Rs 60 is required for the trip. Unlike smart cards, the wallet balance remains safe even if the mobile is lost and passengers can use MJQRT by logging in from any other device.

Passengers can view their travel records through the app and can also recharge the QR code from there. MJQRT users will get a 10% discount during peak hours (8 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 9 pm) and a 20% discount during off-peak hours.
