Karan Johar and Kill actor Lakshya

There has been a lot of discussion about the high fees of stars in Bollywood for some time now. Whether the film is successful or not, big stars always demand crores of rupees from the producers. Now producer-director Karan Johar has also made a similar disclosure. Karan said that the big actors of the industry were demanding a fee of Rs 40 crore for his recently released film Kill. He said that this was only the budget of this film.

In a Hollywood Reporter India roundtable interview, Karan Johar said, “I produced a small film called Kill. I spent money on that film because it was a high concept film. A new actor was cast in it. This was a high concept film. You can’t make it any other way. This film had to be made in the train itself. Every star asked me for the budget of this film.

‘I can’t pay that much’

Karan Johar said, “I said how can I give you this much money when the budget itself is Rs 40 crore. You ask the same. You will assure me that the film will do a business of 120 crores. Who gives such a guarantee? Then I finally found a new guy. And I must say he was an outsider. Karan said that he cast a new boy in the film who was an outsider, but no one appreciated him.

Meanwhile, he said that the films of many big actors are getting 2-3 crore rupees opening. Karan was referring to stars like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan. “Everybody has to look at their fee levels,” he says. Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar stopped Karan and said, “Karan, you stop giving them money.”

After listening to Zoya, Karan says that he has stopped giving so much money now. He said, “I don’t pay that much anymore. ‘Thank you very much, I can’t pay you’ I don’t pay anyone. How have your last few films been? How many openings did you get from them? By what right are you asking me for so much money?”
