Oregon football vs. Boise State Broncos picks, odds: What national media are saying

The No. 6 Oregon football team will look to put a disappointing performance in a 24-14 win over Idaho last week to bed against Boise State this Saturday at Autzen Stadium.

The game will stream exclusively on Peacock at 7 p.m.

Via FanDuel Sportsbook, as of Wednesday, the Ducks are 18.5-point favorites at home. Oregon is -1100 on the moneyline while Boise State is +680. The over/under (point total) is set at 61.5.

Last Saturday’s win came in a game the Ducks led by just three points in the fourth quarter at one point. The Broncos defeated Georgia Southern on the road in their first game, 56-45.

Here’s what national media are saying ahead of Saturday’s game.

ESPN’s Football Power Index, which measures a team’s strength and uses it to forecast game and season results, gives the Ducks an 80% chance to win Saturday.

Projection: Oregon by 13.2 points

Dalton Wasserman says: “I don’t think Boise State has enough firepower elsewhere and I don’t think they’re good enough defensively to stop a team like Oregon … Oregon is a whole different animal than Georgia Southern. There are things I want to see Oregon improve upon, but I think they will.”

Pick: Oregon wins, 34-17

Chip Patterson says: “One of the great statistical anomalies of Week 1 was how Oregon’s yards and points did not line up. Dillon Gabriel‘s statline looks great, but the Ducks only have 24 points on the scoreboard. I think when we look at what Boise State did in a bananas shootout game at Georgia Southern, that shows me that Boise State can go out there and score a bunch, but that their defense is very, very susceptible. As the Ducks want to be able to do a better job of wanting to be able to get it into the end zone and as Boise State’s own ability to score, thanks to star running back Ashton Jeanty — I don’t think Jeanty is going to have six touchdowns, like he did against Georgia Southern, but I think he has enough and Dillon Gabriel has enough, that we can take this thing over 61.5.

Pick: Over 61.5 total points

Ari Wasserman says: “I think Oregon is still unquestionably one of the top five teams in the country. I think they have too much firepower to be a team that struggles week-in and week-out to score. I like Oregon here to bounce back in a big way and I think they’re going to score a ton on Saturday.”
