Josh Heupel played quarterback at Oklahoma from 1999-2000. He led the Sooners to a BCS national championship in 2000, the only national title during Bob Stoops’ tenure as Oklahoma’s head coach (1999-2016).

Heupel transferred to the Sooners in 1999 and played for offensive coordinator Mike Leach during his first season in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma finished 7-5 (5-3 Big 12) in 1999 and played in the Independence Bowl against Ole Miss.

Oklahoma finished the 2000 season 13-0 (8-0 Big 12) and defeated Florida State, 13-2, in the Orange Bowl. The Sooners were also victorious against Kansas State, 27-24, in the Big 12 championship game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Below are photos of Heupel’s playing career for the Sooners from 1999-2000.
