Political Struggle Continues Over Police Order On Kanwar Yatra, Owaisi Challenges CM Yogi

The political conflict on the orders of the Muzaffarnagar police regarding the Kanwar Yatra is going on continuously. While the police are defending it citing the need to maintain law and order, leaders of opposition parties are calling the decision discriminatory. Now BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has also come forward with this decision. He termed this decision as a hasty mistake.

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and BSP supremo Mayawati has also demanded the withdrawal of this decision. Mayawati has posted on X that this new order of the government is a wrong tradition that can spoil the harmonious atmosphere. He wrote that the government should withdraw it immediately in public interest.

Earlier AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the decision and accused the Yogi government of promoting untouchability. Owaisi has said, “I challenge Yogi Adityanath to issue a written order if he has the courage.”

Actually, Kanwar Yatra is going to start from 22nd July, Muzaffarnagar Police Administration has issued an order keeping in mind to maintain peace during Kanwar Yatra. According to this order, all the shops, dhabas and carts coming along the route of Kanwar Yatra will have to paste the name of the owner and employee. So that virgins do not face any kind of confusion and law and order is maintained.

This order of Muzaffarnagar Police is also being criticized a lot on social media. Congress, Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress leaders have expressed their opposition to the order and lyricist Javed Akhtar has also raised questions about it on social media platform X. Javed Akhtar wrote, “The Nazis used to target only certain shops and houses in Germany.”

Let us tell you that every year in the month of Sawan, the devotees of Lord Shiva go to the banks of the Ganges. During this period, special attention is paid to eating sattvic food and the pilgrimage is often performed barefoot. A large number of Kanwariyas travel on the Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana route. According to media reports, around 4 crore Kanwariyas participate in this yatra every year and 2.5 crore Kanwariyas pass through Muzaffarnagar. The police say that the order is to avoid any controversy, but the order has started a political uproar. It remains to be seen whether the administration will reverse this decision or not.
